Before money changes hands, run the six-step audit.
Know what you're taking on — a fresh off-track Thoroughbred, an unbacked youngster, or a previously-trained horse each need a different plan. Match the horse to your time and skill honestly.
The body check — height (a 15.2–16.1hh range carries the work with least strain), back length, muscling behind the wither, hoof balance, and heat or swelling in the hocks and pelvis.
The temperament check — does the horse meet you with a soft, curious eye or a hard, scanning one; does it soften to calm handling or stiffen and guard.
The movement check — does the back swing or dip at walk, do the hind feet track up into the front prints, does the whole spine bend on a circle or just the neck.
The five deal-breakers — a blank, shut-down expression; persistent bracing that never settles; a markedly downhill build; unresolved gastric ulcers; and confirmed back or pelvic (kissing spine / SI) damage.
The vet checks that matter — gastroscopy and imaging of the back, SI joint and hocks, so you buy with your eyes open.

Sovereign Eye reads Hardware — conformation and the structures that carry load; Software — movement and temperament; and State — the nervous system in real time. It returns a Sovereign State classification, the priority interventions, and the programme phase where work begins.
Full access is included for enrolled Operators and professional subscribers.
