The Sovereign System®

The Method Begins Before The Movement.

A proprietary methodology for installing the neurological conditions, then building the physical capacity, that the work requires.

The Mechanism

The Neurochemical Contract.

The Neurochemical Contract is the method's working model for how seeking and fear shape a horse's response to work. The aim is to establish and hold the Alpha State, associating correctly sequenced movement with reward-seeking.

Amygdala responses are addressed through state; Cerebellum patterning is addressed through repetition. State establishes the conditions. Repetition installs the movement.

The Sovereign 12-Week Master Timeline

A Sequence With Biology Behind It.

A horse that has already been backed or ridden follows the 12-Week Recode. Each stage establishes the conditions required for the next.

  1. 01

    Neurological Recruitment

Weeks 1–4. The brain learns the required recruitment pattern while the Alpha State is established at walk.

  2. 02

    Physical Hypertrophy

Weeks 5–12. The installed pattern is carried into progressive tissue loading and physical capacity.

  3. 03

    Generalisation

From month three. The result is carried into the world, with speed and load added one variable at a time.

The Young-Horse Programme

The 16-Week Sovereign Backing Protocol.

An unbacked horse of any age follows a distinct 16-week programme for producing the horse correctly from the ground up. It does not enter the ridden Recode.

The Unloaded Gym

Ground First.

The Sovereign Handshake and Buddywork begin entirely on the ground. This is where the correct neurological software and the Alpha State association are installed before the first ride.

Equitation Science

Grounded In A Published Evidence Base.

The working model is anchored to published literature across learning theory, horse–rider biomechanics, stress response and myofascial anatomy. Those references inform the programme; they do not constitute a promise of outcome.
